Ascent Trip ReportParked at the upper trailhead near the county line marker. Hiked up with my son on my chest - Zeke is 1 year old. The climb from the upper trailhead is a very steep one - you climb 1500 feet in a mile. Woof. That gets you to the turn off from the main trail. I turned off just over the height of land to the left and began the bushwhack. Stay off the top of the ridge if it's summer or spring as the brush is moderately thick (thinner lower down). The high point is unfortunately surrounded by briars, and made it hard to reach with the little one. But we persevered. Great view from the rocks and a worthwhile hike if you're looking for a challenging climb with an easy accessible parking area. |
