Ascent Trip ReportWe reached Mt Lukens via a ~10 mi, 3000' climb loop starting/ending at Deukmeijian Wilderness Park. Started around 8:15am, summitted around 10:30am. Very clear air (likely due to signficantly less traffic over the past week) made for great views: Santiago, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Catalina Island, LAX, Santa Monica, Santa Monica Mountains, the whole San Fernando Valley and almost even Ventura. Chilly at the summit, about 40F, but overall good weather for hiking. |
