Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Dragon's Tooth via the AT northbound from the small parking area on SR 620. Most people climb from the other direction - from SR 620 it's about 11 miles round trip, but from the SR 311 trailhead it's no more than half that. Hike isn't too steep or demanding, but the final ridge section along Cove Mountain to get to the rock formations is rocky, uneven, and seemingly endless. Great views from Dragon's tooth itself, but also good views of SR 311 from the trail and an excellent view of the valley to the north of Cove Mountain as soon as the trail finishes switching back and you reach the top of Cove Mountain the first time. |
