| Elevation:||9255 ft / 2820 m|
Ascent Trip ReportAfter the previous day's Ciremai ascent.
From NE, narrow roads to Dayeuhmanggung, small office at far end with Cikuray sign. Arrived 6am (overnight Garut a short drive away), arrangements quickly made for ojek but took half an hour to arrive - needs 'big motorbike' and while not that big, would be a struggle for a 50cc moped with pillion passenger. Rough road of sharp cobbles, falling off seemed likely and painful, but skilled driver; still not a comfortable ride, but over in 20 mins.
Hike starts at a bend just before end of road, signposted trail through tea plantations, soon passing a larger park office, at 0705 is closed so I climb free of charge. A few folk at buildings above, then trail climbs ridge and enters forest. Steep in places, some easy rooty scrambling, a few groups near the summit and a large group on top asking as usual for a photograph, a nice happy group, not exactly consistent with social distancing now being advocated here and worldwide due to coronavirus.
Up in 2h10, 4hr round trip. No view today in low cloud but stays dry. Nice descent, chatting to a young lad for a while, claims it's his first mountain hike but very nimble as Indonesians tend to be.
Arrived at trailhead 1 minute before the appointed 11am, no ojek, checked road end but no sign, started walking, 15 mins later he appeared. Ride down again uncomfiortable, alarming but uneventful. We head for Bukit Tinggul, finding a nice cheap motel (!) in Lembang above Bandung.
