Ascent Trip Report

Parking lot at 19 Mile Brook Trail was plowed and half full. Full once ended the hike. Very icy most of the way to Zeta Pass. Well packed no post holing here. Microspikes the enter trip. Hut was open. Very windy. We predicted about 75 mph when crossing the pond. Hike up Carter Moriah Trail was tough. You have to have microspikes. Ice Pic is needed. Left the pic down by the hut. Very steep and all icy. The ice came from the melted ice on the trees. Going up in the early morning was easier then coming down. Helmet should be required for two reasons. One lots of ice is being send down by the from person. There should be a certain distance from each other. Second, you one person slides then everyone slides down a very steep trail that is straight not curvy. This happened. Bent poles and so needed the ice pic. Was safe by stopping by a tree. The rest of the hike was great. The snow was melting but not really a problem with the spikes. Great hike.
