|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5168 ft / 1575 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWith MB. Great conditions, hard pack snow in gully, very secure climbing. Minimal post holing on approach via commonwealth basin. Log river crossing seemed tricky at first, we chopped steps. Final approach directly up from basin on steep terrain seemed avi prone but managable this particular day. Would consider traversing south from further up the basin trail next time.
Encountered 6 other climbers at base of route from olympia area, first time seeing anyone on the route. Passed them on p1/2 since we there to simul quickly. 8:15hr c2c and about 2 hours moving time to the summit. We tried the mixed climbing direct exit variation from the gully but turned out to be more tenuous than it at first appeared on delaminating ice. we used to left exit from the gully instead, as I always do. Summit ridge was beautiful. Total dream of a day, and back to North Bend in time for Lasagne. Commonwralth basin trail approach was great, will go this way from now on for sure.
