Ascent Trip ReportRan from Cole Gap over Shortoff. Followed the Yellow Mountain trail. The trail goes over Shortoff Mountain and results in an out-and-back with 3,000 feet of gain in 12.7 miles. The summit of Yellow is rocky and bald with 360-degree views from the 1 story fire tower. There are excellent views to the East and South from the rocky outcrop. Despite temperatures in the 40s and 50s, there was still plenty of snow and ice on the protected northern slopes. |
