Ascent Trip Report

I planned to climb on New Years Day, but the weather looked much better on the 2nd, so I took the day off (Day after New Years).
I arrived at the Trail Head on McKenley Rd., changed, crossed the bridge, signed in at the register and began to climb. After about 10 minutes, I had to cross partly frozen McKenley Creek. Luckily I was wearing my waterproof boots. The climb was uneventful, until I crossed back over the creek, nedar a fallen tree over the creek.
At this point the trail became steeper and ice covered. I put on my microspikes and climbed on. Just when I finished the last switchback the sun came out and the ice on the trees, began to fall on my head. Some of the ice was as thick as my little finger. Some of them really hurt as they hit my head. The rest of the climb was pretty easy. I hit the summit where a large rock flake was standing up. It made a great picture! The way down was pretty easy and quick. Great day for a hike.
