Ascent Trip ReportFrom the car park we continue up the dirt track to the Refugio and then take path on the right which scrambles up over slabs to join path coming in from left (which we could probably have joined the start of had we have followed the main track a little further) Good path continues through pine forest, into valley and then up the NE ridge of Cerro de San Juan arriving on ridge at large cairn just E of high point. Wide track continues NW to summit of Moncayo with various shrines and horseshoe shelters of stones. Very fine views including the snow capped Pyrenees, clear skies, sunshine and a fresh SW wind. Descend the W shoulder soon picking up a path down to the col. From the col we follow a thin path N down valley to prominent cairn at N41.79329deg,W001.85172deg which marks the start of traversing path around N side of Moncayo back to car park. |
