Ascent Trip Report

Sunny day, about 20°C, I left the BNB at 5:59. Arrive at the Tiki trail by foot at 6:24. I went up the trail (which start next to the gondola). Gondola wasn't open and wasn't planned neither. Gondola cost 44nz.

I forgot my head lamp and it was still dark at six so I had to use my phone until reaching the top of the gondola.

7:14, I was at the top of the gondola.
7:20, I reach the Ben Lomond track sign.
8:48, There's a bench with a incredible view in the col. You can't miss it.

The trail was easy to follow and well marked. Also there is not much obstacle other than a lot of denivelation. Saw goats, Kea (at least six) and lizards.

9:45, I was on the top with 3 other people. Took a long break (1:15). 360° view. Really incredible!! Could see all the summits far away (Mt. Aspiring) and others who still had snow!

11:00, leaving the top. Lot of people arriving since the gondola is now open. Many people on the trail way down.

12:30, back to the gondola, stop there to look at the stuff / views and restaurants. (30 minutes)

13:37, back down the tiki trail to the parking lot.

14:11, back to my place for a nap!
