Ascent Trip ReportWe went up via the Goodspeed Trailhead off Adobe Canyon Road. Distance estimated at 8.5 miles. Iffy because trail rerouted after fire on part to Hood Mtn after the Gunsight junction. Trail now goes north past peak and you buttonhook back to peak on a good but unsigned trail. You will see sign where summit trail from north hits your trail from south. Go straight on unsigned trail.
Coming up from Goodspeed trailhead you are in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park (Iron Ranger fee). About halfway up you change to Hood Mountain Regional Park and Natkemper trail. The Natkemper part has quite a few little 4 to 5 feet ascents over very rocky parts where poles are very helpful. Otherwise use your rock climbing skills.
A shorter route to this peak would be to come in from the Pythian Road trailhead.
