Ascent Trip Report

Poor weather earlier in the week made us rushed to try and do the East Buttress and have my partners back in SoCal later that night. We started from Upper Boy Scout around midnight and I was on the 1st pitch by 4:00AM. Cold weather, altitude, and darkness made climbing hard for the grade. I wasn't making sufficient progress so bailed off the 1st pitch. Extra time spent trying to free the double-rope rappel. We ultimately decided to summit via the Mountaineer's Route. Because of hard packed snow and ice we had to take the 4th class rock to the right of the upper rock slope. Summited before 10AM. Back at cars after dark.
