Ascent of Guye Peak on 2020-02-22
|Date:||Saturday, February 22, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5168 ft / 1575 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWith AJ and Nick. Excellent conditions, very deep snow, chalkstones covered. Deadly cornice above final topout on N peak. Many cornices along summit ridge.
Solo'd until roping up with others to help group move quickly.
Places pickets and black tricam and slung trees.
Messed up descent, ended up high on snoqualmie mountain trail. Long time navigating steep tree slopes.
15 hour epic in all. 7 am start, 6pm summit, 10pm car due to group pace. Great adventure anyway and got to spend time actually taking in the scenery of the valley and practicing patience and doing a little mentoring. Found a cliff with climbable water ice on return. Really enjoyed hanging with AJ and Nick.
