Ascent Trip ReportWinter ascent w/ one overnight at half way camp via vivian creek trail. Most of the higher switchbacks were snow-covered and non-discernible, so we took more direct routes. Route finding skills were most certainly necessary. Needed crampons and snow axe as there was significant ice and snow, but made the call that the value of snowshoes weren't worth having to carry them. But honestly, it likely was a tossup since we all post-holed 1/20 steps up past high camp. If we'd started at 6am at camp instead of 10am like the lazy group we were, the post-holing would have been a non-issue. The gps tracks show some faffing around as my pals were testing out some backcountry skies. All in all a GREAT day out with very little other company on the mountain.
