Ascent Trip ReportWeather was warmer (and drier) than usual for February, so I went up to Winston Ridge. I'd done Winston Peak on a previous hike. From Cloudburst, took the old road down to where it intersects the PCT. I then followed the PCT west to the saddle between Winston Peak and Peak 6903. From there, I followed the use trail on the west side of 6903 and found some lingering snowpack, making this section of the trail dangerous. One snow chute looked particularly sketchy so I climbed most of the way up 6903 and descended to the saddle between it and Winston Ridge, then followed the use trail up to that summit. On the way back, I didn't want to climb 6903 again, and the west use trail was snowy, so I took the east use trail back to the PCT. I encountered some snow chutes but they were easily avoided with some scrambling.
Did a bit of post-holing on the snowy sections of the hike on north facing slopes.
