I did Griff Peak in summer in the past. Due to windfall from the Griff Peak fire (I think 2002) a summer hike is very strenuous due to tree climbing. In mid winter that problem is gone. The snow was soft and very deep. Snowshoe or skins are the right equipment. I think just hiking would be very difficult because each step would be hip deep.
