Ascent Trip ReportBagged in a series with Piedras and Indian Hill. We were coming from Indian Hill, so we went straight for the ascent up a side hill despite their likely being better options if approached from elsewhere. Nice reveals at the top of the Gorge.
The top of the mountain was so interesting, and I wish I had an archeologist with me to tell me what was going on up there. There were like 10-15 bathtub looking formations that looked carved into the rock. Some were quite full with rain collection.
The descent was doable, but the last two to three hundred feet to the desert floor had us hopping across house sized boulders with some decent fall potential, so we meandered around trying to find a way to get down in a way that wasn't as exposed. We did manage to find a path. This added to the fun and puzzle of the mountain for us, but there are likely better routes down that don't have this route finding challenge baked in. |
