Ascent Trip ReportI've been an avid hiker for 10 years, but in all that time I've never hiked in the winter...until today. My friend Jill and I did Mt Hight for my first winter hike and I enjoyed every minute of it. Not too cold, no bugs, great views of the Presidentials, but no views in any other direction with an impending storm coming in. I will definitely be doing this again!
Initially the trail was well packed and only microspikes were needed. We managed without snowshoes, but they would have been nice for the final 0.5 miles to the summit and then back down to the Carter Dome Trail (we did the summit loop).
