|Date:||Wednesday, January 1, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||1240 ft / 377 m|
Ascent Trip ReportUgh. Followed the track posted by David Sanger, with a visit to Mt. Ellen first. Left the trail and crossed the fence with the rope at the bottom while trying to avoid poison oak. The old roadbed for the first half mile after this is horrendous. Carpeted with poison oak I couldn't believe I was just marching on through, raising my feet high with every step in an attempt to flatten a path but brushing my legs against the toxic plant with every stride. Also blackberry vines were prevalent.
Once past the next gate (where Burd's track joins David's) the route becomes easier. Once past Goat Hill the way becomes easy along a grassy ridge. I was quite fortunate with the weather - low clouds inundated the higher elevations and I was completely invisible to anyone more than a few hundred feet away.
