Ascent Trip ReportThe Nifty-Ninety List brought me to another place I would have never gone too. This seemed as good as any to do on New Years Day.
Parking up on San Andreas Rd. had plenty of street parking, but some of it is narrow and kind of steep. There were a lot of people, but there are so many trails, it never seemed crowded.
Trails were well signed and easy to follow as we worked out way up the mountain. The sound of the frogs at Hidden Lake were deafening. It was really amazing and could be heard from 1/2 mile off.
The main road/trail doesn’t actually go to the summit. To get there, you head straight onto the single track at the intersection that had the radio tower on the left. From here it’s not very far. There is an old stone wall built along the summit ridge. Views are mostly obstructed by trees. We actually had the summit to ourselves. Everything is green and gorgeous right now.
Where’s the Nifty-Ninety going to take me next?
