Ascent Trip Report

I drove my 2WD Honda CRV as far as I felt comfortable before the road became very steep with a surface of slippery mud. I paid $3 to park in a field and hike the rest of the way. There were numerous trucks passing by with people riding in the back. I assume you can hire this service somewhere. I paid $3 for a ticket to continue hiking up the road. I can't read Spanish and there were thick clouds so I initially passed by the entrance gate toward the summit. There is a field with picnic tables and restaurants. I ascended via that trail that passes behind one of the restaurants. I reached the radio tower and was followed by 2 dogs barking aggressively at me. I have suffered dogs bites on previously expeditions so I am very wary of this. I carried a stick and stones and they backed away. There were two more dogs barking aggressively and baring their teeth and fortunately they were locked behind the fence. There is a concrete monument at the top. I descended via the road from the radio tower which was a bit shorter. The access road is paved for much of the way before it turns to dirt and I was forced to park. It is very steep in many places. On the way down, ensure you put your vehicle in a lower gear. I was a doofus and did not and before long my brakes were smoking.
