Ascent of Castaic Lake State Recreation Area High Point on 2019-12-15
|Date:||Sunday, December 15, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Castaic Lake State Recreation Area High Point|
| Elevation:||2287 ft / 697 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove into the entrance of park and paid the $11 entrance fee. Drove to the 3 acre parking lot. It is a little confusing so the key is to stay at the upper parking lot. You don't want to drive to the end of the road as you will just have to gain the lost altitude again. Walked along the Pine Ridge Fire Road and followed it to the high point. The map shows a spot elevation, on the way at 2242. From there it "looks"higher than the 2287 spot elevation of the high point. Hiked to the further one and then did the 2242 one on the way back just to be sure.
This park is owned by the state system, but managed by the LA County departments of parks. This was CA park number 244.
