Ascent Trip Report

I exited from IH-15 at the Black Ridge exit and drove to the end of pavement on Escalante's Path. From there I hiked the dirt road west until taking the dirt road south that parallels the power lines. After about 1/2 a mile I veered more to the west cutting across open country until intersecting another good dirt road, I followed that until reaching FR929 which took me to the base of my ascent.

The lower part of the ascent is pretty easy ad open, but higher up one gets into a lot of Gamble Oak and the bushwhacking gets less pleasant. The top of the ridge has some open paths, but it is still a bushwhack. The summit views are good and there is a wonderful view of Gregory Butte to the east. I contemplated crossing the saddle to the north and ascending peak 6690, but along the way I decided to call it a day and I'll hike 6690 some other time.
