Ascent Trip ReportParked at the DEC Biscuit Brook parking area and started hiking at 8:00am. Josh and I followed the blue blazed Pine Hill-West Branch trail to the top of Big Indian and then followed the herd path .25 mile to the canister at the peak. This was peak #38 for me...one more to go! The summit was like a winter wonderland with 3-4 inches of snow in the ground and the trees hanging heavy with snow...it was beautiful but made the hiking a little more difficult. From there we headed off to Fir. We found a herd path as we neared the top of Fir which led right to the canister. Peak #39...done! From there we bushwacked back to the blue blazed trail and hiked the 2 miles back to the car. Overall the hike was 10 1/2 miles and took us 6 1/2 hours. |
