Ascent Trip ReportThis is the only peak in the pecos wilderness that I summited, and only because the trail went so near i couldn't pass it up. the majority of my trip i was focusing on visiting and fishing in lakes that were off established trails. Horseshoe lake being by far the most spectacular, best fishing, and easiest to access surprisingly.
the peak is no problem to summit, despite thunderstorms forming over the divide every day i was there (i could see from the distance), and the divide runs north, east, and west of this peak providing grand views and giving you access to the truchas and pecos baldy peaks to the west, and jicarta to the north, which i did not attempt to summit despite being less than a mile from the mountain. I somewhat regret that, but it does give me options to look forward to next year. hopefully pecos baldy, truchas, and jicarta will be summited on my trip in july 2011. we'll see.....
