|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||Czech Republic|
| Elevation:||4357 ft / 1328 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe set off from the Freud Hotel in Ostravice past the church to the car park at the trail-head. A stony track continued to the hamlet of Butoranka, then more steeply in a series of zig-zags up through the forest. As we gained height, light rain and hill mist moved in. The trail was quite busy. We gained the north-west ridge of the mountain, passing a memorial to Nazi victims in the area. We reached the summit, a busy place with a number of buildings.
After summit pictures we retired to one of the lodges for lunch. Our descent began south-east by the ski-tows, eventually finding the yellow trail off the access road. This trail through the forest was narrower and much quieter. The sun began to shine. The trail descended south and then south-west through the open forest around the flank of Cupel 943m to emerge eventually at the Sance Reservoir in the valley. From there we took a quiet lane down to the main road, following it on a pavement back to Ostravice.
