Ascent Trip ReportFrom a tent base camp on high snow col at 68deg 47min N, 29deg 28min W. 600 metre ascent of steep NW buttress/ridge starting from 68deg 47min N, 29deg 26min W then exiting by tunneling through a cornice to attain fore-peak at 3475 metres (led by Starbuck), then SSE along ridge (part led by Closs) to summit at 3549m, with humongous drop down steep cliffs to SE (circa 2000 metres). Returned same way. A single 'deadman' was our only item of protection on the 600m buttress. Believed by me to go by the name of "Ajungilak" |
