Ascent Trip ReportOnce upon a time there was a maintained trail from the Blue Ridge Parkway "Rest Area" just south of the jct with NC 215. Once upon a time.
If you are heading to Tanasee it is far better to just take a bearing and start walking. Near the parking area the old trail is impossible to distinguish from the many rabbit trails that have developed. After a while, if you do manage to locate it, it comes and goes like a vapor, leaving you scratching your head in wonderment.
Just bite the bullet, forget about looking for the trail, and bushwhack along the spine of the ridge slightly west of south and you'll be walking through rather open spruce/fir/hemlock forest, not at all steep. The bald itself is largely overgrown. A large spruce appears to be occupying the high point.
