Ascent Trip ReportEric and I did a traverse (with car shuttle) east to west that included Pratt, Defiance, Putrid Pete's, Web, Dirty Harrys, Dirtybox, and Mailbox. Eric Geissinger's trip report provides our times. Mostly fun scrambling/thrashing. Pratt to Web was easy and fun with great views. The descent from Web into the drainage was painful and slow on loose talus and there was some swacking to get up to the ridge that took us to Dirty Harry's Peak. Eventually we found a slightly logged out tread and eventually hit the trail up to Dirty Harry's. We considered taking the trail but it would have required loosing and gaining almost 800 extra feet. To get off Dirty Harry's and around the cliff on the southwest side, we dropped down about 200 ft to the south (to 4,400) and traversed a very steep dirt slope below the cliff. This was a bit stressful due to the steepness and hard dirt covered with pine needles. We regained the ridge and continued on to Dirtybox, assisted by some helpful flagging along the ridge. This stretch included some third class scrambling on solid rock that was quite fun and entertaining. The hike to Mailbox was mostly nice trail.
The GPS indicated 15.5 miles at the end of the trip but after resampling the distance dropped to 13.9 miles. 6,400 ft of vertical. GPS track attached to my Pratt trip report.
