Ascent Trip Report

Woke up with a little a-fib so took a fleccanide and set off for a more gentle hike than the bushwhacking yesterday. Turns out this peak is over 1k prominence and has a trail up to the top and nobody does it? Just what I needed for a solo hike before a storm. Small parking lot well signed just before the 4 wheel drive road one takes to get to Horsepen Gap. Could park say 8 cars? And is or trails used mostly by mountain bikers. Well marked trail with white blazes and signage. It does go to the summit by way of a use trail at the junction after winding around the peak. I chose to bushwhack back down instead of winding around the peak a second time. If you stay on trail the entire time it is just under 5 mile RT (probably like 4.8 miles) but my mileage was shorter due to the bushwhack and my pause button accidentally activated during most of the bushwhack. NOTE: that the new bike trail follows the dashed line on the USGS map but is not right on it. They appeared to take out the steeper sections and thus it is a bit longer than the dashed line which would imply around a 3.8 mile round trip (See GPS track attached)

Despite some irregular heart beat and me hiking up much slower than usual (around 3 mph up and much faster down) Easy trail system
