Ascent Trip Report

I thought I had seen a weakness in one of the cliff bands on Google Earth so my initial approach was more to the east than the standard route. Unfortunately the scrambling was a bit too much for me and my dog. Then as I started making my way toward the standard route I spotted another weakness in a cliff wall (there was a clearly defined game trail leading to this weakness as well), but it too was just a little too much for me to lift Lola up onto the next level spot, so I kept making my way toward the standard route. I think both scrambles are doable w/o a dog, but I don't plan to return to try.

Once on the standard route ridge, it was an easy class 2 walk up to the summit. I reached the summit late in the afternoon, so the best views were to the east. The summit register only had a couple entries for 2019, but seemed to be pretty loaded with a lots of hikes in the early 2000s. I made my return as easy as possible by following the standard route ridge until descending into a wash that returned me to my start point.

The long drive in was not fun even on an ATV, but the creek crossing was no issue (about 10" deep and solid bottom), the wash portion was a deep sandy area, then out of the wash the road was okay although very rocky and the final wash leading to the ruins was littered with a few large rocks that need to be skirted around.
