Ascent Trip Report

After two days of hiking up summits like Madison, Adams and Jefferson, it's a bit jarring to walk up into the traffic and crowds on the summit of Mt. Washington. We arrived at the summit (via Jefferson and Clay on the Gulfside trail) around noon and lined up in the dense cloud and howling wind while folks in non-sensible shoes picked their way up the last few feet from the parking lot to the summit marker. Still, they got their high point, even if they aren't keeping track. But, the Nelson Crag Trail down off the summit gets you away from the crowds and the traffic pretty quickly, and back into the wind and rocks.
