Ascent Trip ReportHiked with Beth, Ken and Kristen.
Approached from Gosford Park on Canadian side of border. $12 Canadian fee per person for entrance to park plus another $3 Canadian for map. Helps to have 4WD and or high clearance vehicle but you may be able to make it in a car if you go slow.
The ranger at the Ranger station suggested that we take the steep ATV trail at the Gravel pit parking lot and follow that up to the boundary swath. Turn left and follow wide swath to the summit. Summit is labeled Panther Peak and the canister is located just off the swath on the US side of the border. Nice day with beautiful views and foliage. Fairly easy hike from the gravel pit to the summit.
FYI, Moose hunting season started on 10/12 and the area of the park where the ATV trail goes to the boundary is closed to hiking.
