Ascent Trip Report

It's possible to get a bus from Minsk Puskinskaja metro station from N side of the main road. Mini bus with 'MNHCK-BO*MA-PO^HNKN'(where the N's are 'backwards'and the * is a symbol a bit like a greek pi)sign in window. Bus stops on road beside the track to the high point, about a 40 minute journey.

We wanted to make a day of it so caught bus from Minsk Central bus station to Rakob (Pakob) - this is fairly straight forward as the bus station is well organised and the ticket kiosk attendants will direct you to a kiosk with someone who speaks English. From Rakob we walked on sandy tracks and minor roads S through arable farmland, forest and villages to BOLMA then along the long straight road E to the high point. All more interesting than expected. We didn't meet anyone who spoke English and were studiously ignored by everyone with the exception of a farmer who insisted we ride on his tractor trailer for the short distance our journeys coincided. Birds seen throughout the day included lots of Tree Sparrows, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Buzzard, Jay, Green Finche, Starlings, Hooded Crow.
We caught the mini bus back from bus stop on road beside the high point to Minsk Puskinskaja metro station and the excellent metro back to the city centre. Autumnal colours were stunning and in all, a far more interesting day than expected.
