Ascent Trip ReportMoney Creek Road was in reasonable shape. From the NE end of Lake Elizabeth, I started bushwhacking, heading north and slightly east. I reached the boulder field around 3,500 feet and followed its right side toward the NW. Around 5,000 feet, I traversed a short distance along the base of the cliffs to the left (west) to a short stretch of steep heather with a small creek that gives access to the basin above the cliffs.
Once in the basin, I headed directly for the west ridge, which I reached at 5,400 feet just below a rock step. A few inches of unconsolidated early snow made the exposed scramble up the rocks unappetizing. I went back to the south side of the ridge and contoured east along the base of the rocks to easier terrain which took me to the ridge at 5,460 feet. From there, it was just a short distance to the summit.
On the way down, I stayed a little more to the east. This was easier and more direct. Below the cliffs, I opted for the trees to skiers right (west) rather than the boulders. It was not clear if this option was better. Instead of the boulders, I had to contend with stretches of thick huckleberry brush and occasional rock steps.
