Ascent Trip Report***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Mat Kelliher, Bill Simpson, Mike Dillenback, Sreedhar Yetur
We drove to the Radio Towers and parked and proceeded from there via HPS Route 2. This route follows an easy to see use trail and was in pretty good shape for the downhill portion of the hike, but was badly overgrown with thick buckthorn in lots of places for the ascent. We were well armed with loppers and clippers though, so we opened the route up nicely and it'll be good to go for a few months. ; well ducked and not too overgrown. We had loppers with us and clipped out the areas that needed it. Long drive (1 hour) on dirt road to get to trailhead; high clearance vehicles with at least AWD required. We had four 4WD vehicles and one Subaru Outback; no troubles.
2.0 RT Miles, 550' loss and 150' gain going in.
