| Location:||USA-North Carolina|
| Elevation:||5680 ft / 1731 m|
Ascent Trip ReportParked at Grassy Ridge Mine overlook on the BRP. There is no obvious trail to, or even toward the summit of Steestachee, but the MST swings along its southern end. Hiked east on the MST until it seemed to have topped out, then turned up to bushwhack to the summit. AllTrails recording gives the following stats: distance (one way) 0.6 mi; 463' elevation gain.
Could not locate any marker or monument on the summit (and none is indicated on the USGS quad map), but the summit is very obvious in the open woods that cover the old bald. Not a lot of briars, and the open forest makes for a straightforward and relatively pleasant bushwhack.
