Ascent Trip ReportFrom Mt Davis, the drive to the trailhead was beautiful. Finding the trailhead was a little tricky, since my Google Maps pin drop was poorly located on a road through private property. That road apparently gets that a lot, since there is a sign directing Highpointers to get you to the trailhead (thanks sign people.) Arrived at trailhead around 4:30 pm CDT.
Drove a sub-compact car up rough gravel to parking area (I think?) and then set out on the trail. It is definitely a challenging trail, in spite of the short distance and relatively small gain in altitude. Fairly steep gains and large rock gravel made it a good challenge for the day and the most intense of the 3 I tackled on 9-20-19. Trail signage is great.
View from the top was great; took pics of cairns, including the big cairn at the top. Took shots of the sign, the view, the mailbox that holds the registry...forgot to actually SIGN the registry. Oops.
Also visited the State Line marker between MD and WV (Marker 3.) Cool bonus shot. Also visited the smallest Church in the lower 48, which is just .25 miles from the trailhead. Great little bonus stop and helpful spot to pray for guidance in finding Spruce Knob with no navigational aids before sunset. (It worked.)
