|Date:||Wednesday, September 18, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8458 ft / 2577 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFrom NW via Nikko Shirane-san ropeway (up from 0800, last down 1630, cost ¥2000 round trip). We followed Petter Bjørstad's description, visiting the 2577m SW summit first. Highpoint of 2578m summit is a slabby outcrop at 7m N of the signboard. We descended N by the alternative trail to make a circuit. It's a little scrambly (YDS 2+) especially when wet, would be a little easier tackling this section in ascent, by making a clockwise circuit instead, forking L onto Trail 6 then R for the summit trail.
This was the second peak of the trip for both of us: I'd summitted Rishiri two days ago, and Pete had summitted Fuji this morning: an overnight ascent fitted a weather window and suited his body clock as he had just arrived from UK. We plan for Hiuchi the next day
