Ascent of Three Brothers on 2019-09-14
|Date:||Saturday, September 14, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7303 ft / 2225 m|
Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Freedom, Three Brothers, and Navaho in a single push. 15.8 miles (10 miles on trail), 7.5 hours, nothing more difficult that class 2. Followed the Stafford Creek trail for 3.5 miles and left the trail at the top of the last switchback before the trail crossed Stafford Creek. Steep but easy climb to the top of Freedom. Originally I had planned to return to the low point between Navaho and Freedom and then traverse around to the low point between Navaho and Three Brothers. After observing the cliffy sections across the basin towards Three Brothers I decided to head straight down the northeast ridge from Freedom, cross Etienne Creek, and climb directly towards Three Brothers. That worked well, although it required another 600 ft of elevation drop/gain and negotiating a short cliff band below Freedom. It was an easy climb from Three Brothers to Navaho. I didn't see a single person up to that point but from Navaho back to the trail head there were numerous climbers and backpackers and a friendly herd of cows grazing in the meadow around 5,700 ft
