Ascent Trip Report48@50 hike 14; 47 4k peaks completed. 23.25 mile Presidential Traverse starting at Pinkham Notch, attempt at Lilly Ledge, over Lowe's Baldspot, and hitting all major and minor peaks except Abigail and Sam Adams. Dropped pack at Mizpah Hut, ran up to Jackson and back just before dinner. Stayed at Mizpah and was going to go through the Dry River Wilderness and over Isolation the next day, but heavy rains overnight and predicted rain and thunderstorms that day caused me to just run down to Crawford after breakfast to catch the 9:00 am shuttle back to Pinkham.
Lilly Ledge is a large rock just off trail and I went up to the base of it, but didn't want to risk injury climbing up and down it at the beginning of a Presi traverse, so didn't go up to the top. |
