Ascent Trip Report

The roads out in this national forest are currently in excellent condition. I followed both the google maps suggestions that took me over dashed lined roads and the tracks from other peakbaggers who showed their car track and they were all fine for a passenger car although in places I am glad my rental was a high clearance Durango SUV - but there is also excellent signage in the national forest. Now without a gps, map, or route you can get turned around and lost in there but the roads are not an issue. The final stretch to the saddle of this peak was getting steep and narrow and I did not want to risk with a rental vehicle but I would have made it with no issue. Parking a bit lower and starting where I did allowed for some vertical hiking which I prefer.

Just beyond the saddle there is a black diamond sign track for off road vehicles and a track that goes up the spine ridge of the peak and it is real tough route for motorcycles and the like. It was very steep for a hiker at the beginning with some rock class 2 but really no views at the top
