Ascent Trip Report

Please see attached GPS data and Pictures of this Hike.

My original plan was to hike up to the Hut and use DER JOHANN KLETTERSTEIG (SÜDWANDKLETTERSTEIG), unfortunately forgot to pack a feratta kid and couldn’t pass the first section. The "Johann" has difficulty D/E on the cableroute difficulty range (from A to E), which means it is long, very exposed and strenuous. The advantage is: the most difficult part, an overhang, is at the very beginning of the route, Long Story short I had to return all the way to the Hut and take a more easier route up to Hunerscharte and the Glacier Route over to the Standard Route up to the Peak. Still a Cable Route but not as difficult as Johann and manageable. To sum it all up I had an amazing day despite the disappointment early in the day. Great weather and miles of view. On my return I took the Cable Car ?? to the Valley Floor.

Happy Hiking, Josef.....
