Ascent Trip ReportWas wondering the best way to nab this easy alpine peak and there is a pull out close to the road where you can do this with only about 400 feet of gain but it is totally an alpine open country and talus deal so we saw a trail behind the Goliath Center and it although it made the total gain over 700 feet most of it was a nice trail thru Bristlecone pines. The trail will not give the summit so at some point Karen was feeling a bit of altitude and I left her on a boulder and scampered up through some rocks being as careful as possible to stay on sand and rock and leave the tundra alone. Near the top is some false summits of hard rock that permitted some class 2+ to 3 scrambling and that gets you further off any tundra so I took that. |
