Ascent Trip Report

Please see attached GPS Data and some Pictures for this Hike.

Happy Hiking, Josef....

Started this Ascent from Hammersbach via Hoellental. The Night before I arrived after Dinner and got a nice Parking Spot for the Night. (Take a Ticket from the Machine to avoid being fined like it happen to me !!!,) Throughout the Night more Hikers arrived with the first ones started as early as 3:00 am to get started. I decided to start at 6:00 with the first Light and it was also fine. Easy trail to follow till reaching Höllentalklamm paying your fee and continue up. There is Light up through the Tunnels but it gets pretty wet at times and you might consider wearing a Jacket. Once past this wet part it is just following the trail till reaching Höllentalangerhütte where I decided to have Breakfast. This is also a good opportunity to stay overnight and make it a 2 day Hike. Once past the Hut it is easy trail to follow with many people ahead of you, since the they just started their hiking day having stayed overnight. A ladder here and there and some Steel Cables but nothing very difficult if you have your Via Ferrata Set ready and know how to use it. Avoid the weekends as it can get very crowded and slow. Might consider as well to pack Crampons and know how to wear them safely especially on the icy patches which might be encountered. Unfortunately too many people on this hike and it really slows everything down to a crawl especially on or near the Glacier and the upper part of the Steel Cables. Once you reach the top it just becomes a big ZOO with people in Sandals or Flip-Flops joining from the nearby Cable Car. Waiting in Line to get a decent Summit Picture is no Fun. Had Great Lunch up there, took some more Pictures and made my way down, using the Cable Car. I had Fun throughout the day but wished it would have been less crowded.
