Ascent Trip Report

Woke up early and drove 9 hours from Dallas to Tom Sauk Mountain State Park. Google maps takes you right to it, no issues. The high point is accessible from the parking lot via the sidewalk in about 3 minutes. But I felt like I had to do something after all that driving and to earn the "ascent" so I hiked the 3 mile loop trail, saw the waterfalls and got some exercise. It was an easy hike with some good views and the waterfall is very pretty. Saw a few other hikers, not bad for 2:00 on a Wednesday. Half the loop is part of the Ozark trail too, now that would be a fun thru hike to do some day.
