Ascent Trip ReportFri: Start at 1800 from TH. Hike/bike 7.5 miles to campsite along NF Entiat where bike was stowed. Arrived to campsite at 2015.
Sat: on the move at 0630, gained 800' to meet Pyramid Mtn Trail and hiked another 2 miles and 800' to Saska Pass whereabouts I stowed my night pack and took day pack to Pinnacle (drop 1400' to Snow Brushy then ascend 2,100' to Pinnacle summit). Reverse back to Saska Pass, add a piece of food to day pack (~7,300') and climb 1,100' to Saska and then back to pack. Hike with all my gear down trail to turnoff for Emerald (~6,900') and climb 1,500' to Emerald summit, back to gear. Hike with gear another mile down to 6,500' at turnoff for Cardinal and camp in meadow. Arrived to camp st 1830. I had said that I'd try Cardinal that day if I had arrived at 1800, even a little late threw that plan out, wait until morning.
Sun: On the move at 0630 again, climb the 2,100' to summit Cardinal (the highest and most "technical" of the four). Drizzle and winds on the way up. Actually had to don puffy and windbreaker (15ish mph winds, high-30s to mid-40s).back down to pack a bit delayed and on the move down to bike at 1000. Left with bike down the 7.5 miles of trail around 1045. Much cruising on a failing bike to get to the car at 1230. Still much better than hiking albeit more painful.
