Happy Hiking, Josef !!

This peak was part of my trip to complete as many Utah County Highpoints as possible. Not much Information was available for Gilbert Peak so it was like exploring and making up a route as I went along. On sight Navigation. To begin with I missed Dollar lake and went out further than I had planned which in hindsight was not a bad thing as it was all swamp closer to the Lake. Still had to cross a few streams which was not bad this late in the Season. A bit steep to climb up the hill and over some Deadwood. Once in the Bowl I could see the steep Hill in front of me and decided to give it a try. I could make out a weakness in the wall and this is what I went for. May not the best route as it is very steep and loose in places but definitely the shortest. (May consider to your right and have less steep.) Once past the steep part there is another very wet area to cross, other from that its boulder hopping till you reach the Peak which is on a rather flat plateau but is clearly marked with a Windshelter and a Benchmark, No register found rather than an empty Plastic Container which might have held a register in the past. Was great Fun glissading down the steep and loose part of the Slope. Once back in the Bowl I decided to try a bit of a different route since I had to get back to the Trailhead at Henry Fork. The Forest is open enough and easy to navigate through, May there even be a trail which I have not found but still some game trails which I followed at times. The lower part closer to Dollar lake is all Swamp and could be a real challenge earlier in the Season. Was ok for me as I weaved my way through the wet part. Overall I am pleased how it turned out for a dayhike with much route finding and navigation. Meet also my friend Richard Hensley which I have not seen the past year and was glad to give him some valuable information from what I gathered from this Hike for his ascent. Happy Hiking, Josef.....
