Ascent Trip Report

While this wasn't the highest or most prominent peak of my 2019 Europe trip, good weather and an outstanding setting made it my favorite.

I took the cable car up and the cog railway down. I made sure to get to the top as early as possible, reaching the summit at 9:45 AM. I actually had a few minutes completely to myself underneath the golden summit cross. Within a hour, the entire summit area was completely covered with people. The climb to the summit was not difficult, thanks to the ladder and ropes, but I found the rocks to be extremely smooth and hard to keep traction on.

Don't miss the grilled bratwurst near the old customs booth on the German side.
