Ascent of Grayback on 2019-08-24
|Date:||Saturday, August 24, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4022 ft / 1225 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI drive a 2013 Dodge Dart and ended up parking at mile 3.0 of Paul McClellan’s directions on McCulloch Creek Rd. Not because I needed high clearance for the road, but because I got tired of getting out of my car moving big rocks off of the road. Although high clearance would have helped me avoid getting out of the car. Miles 2.5 to 3.5 of McCulloch Creek Rd are steep with potential for large rocks being on the road. After that, the road is mostly smooth and most vehicles should make it to mile 5.2 to park. I hope I got enough big rocks off of the road to help low clearance vehicles in the future.
The summit of the peak is a dud, no good views in any direction. I did not bring a new summit register as I saw on a recent trail report that the old damaged register has been removed.
